My belated Christmas present taking a beating in the first month of use
Pros: easy to use, lightweight, 5 weighing modes,
Cons: not very durable, screen shuts off quickly
I asked for this scale for Christmas, but I didn't get it until mid-January as it was out of stock EVERYWHERE. Amazon.com ended up selling it at the cheapest price and it shipped very quickly, but I was very disappointed to discover that the plug that was advertised with the scale on line that we ordered was not the right one and had to be returned. Amazon actually does NOT even sell the right plug, but they package a SIMILAR one with the scale that does not fit. I ended up getting the right plug at Radio Shack for a cheaper price anyways, but the hassle was annoying.
So far I've had the scale for about a month and I haven't gotten to use it a whole lot due to the above mentioned difficulty, but when I have used it for weighing mail and food products it has worked fine, but it does seem rather cheaply made. It is very lightweight which could be considered a pro or con. I like it, but so far the top metal panel has come unglued, and the hindge on the plastic protective screen snapped completely off although the scale as been handled and stored very carefully. The panel was easily reglued and I didn't care much for the plastic screen anyways, but I was disappointed at the poor quality I've seen in the manufacturing so far, especially for a machine with a life-time guarantee.
Other than that, the scale reads very acurately and it is not very hard to figure out. However, I DO need to see if I can adjust the automatic shut off time because right now it keeps messing me up when I'm cooking adn the screen quickly shuts off and I have to start all over.
The price shown is for the scale alone, without the additional plug and S/H. The plug brought me up to about $50 and S/H was free form Amazon, but most everwhere else it was at least $10-15 just FYI.
