Hi...I'm Ducky! (Group reply "Hi, Ducky!") I like food. I'm kind of a newbie to the whole chat room thing. I've been online for almost a year now. I found this site through chowhounds. I'm kind of regular in egullet where I met my chowhound buddies. I'm involved in portlandfood.org which is a new site that links people in PDX to go out to eat. We have a little foodie group of ten people now that go out to eat once a month and we're looking to do some food related volunteer work together. What turned me on in this site was the garden section which the other sites don't have. I'm a pastry chef wannabe but for now I work for one of the largest produce warehouses in the Pacific NW as the prep manager's asst. I used to think of myself as an office grunt until I read Bourdain's "Kitchen Confidential" and now I realize how my job looks from a chef's point of view. I've done hiring and helped to maintain a crew of up to 450 people that have chopped up to 75,000 lbs. of prep in a 24 hr. period. Talk about prep sheets and produce orders from ****! My job has shifted recently to where I'm pretty much the "label queen" of the company. (Don't even get me started on that new labeling law...) I like the logo here much better than egullet but I'm a little disappointed that the store here doesn't carry a thong. The camisole is cute though. (wink) I'm looking forward to exploring this place!
