Hopeful thoughts for Floridians

I hope all the Floridian Chef Talk members, and any whose families and friends live in Florida, are safe and well.

I have family in Naples; they are okay. However, I have friends in Punta Gorda and don't know what their situation is. :(

I will be donating to the Red Cross, as that's the best I can do from 1000 miles away. I haven't rolled up my sleeve to give blood in a while, but that's also on my list.

Mother has close friends in Orlando who we last heard was evacuating. Haven't beein on contact since electricity is out. Heard the damage down there was bad and some people actually stayed. Lets hope for the best.

HC, my cousin lives on the norther edge of Orlando. They had high winds by didn't lose any windows or shingles and they have power. They were scared but escaped any real harm. She said things were a bit worse south of her, but didn't elaborate.

We'll be optimistic....
