scrubbing the grills

Okay, so I get to clean the grills and flat tops everyday, but sometimes when I take the brick to the flat top and start scrubbing away, it "squeels" unbelievably loud at a such a high pitch that it almost shatters my eardrums (exaggeration), was just wondering if anyone else has encountered this, or if there is anything I can do to make sure it doesn't happen, I've tried using extra oil., I've even tried soaking the brick in oil to reduce some of the surface friction.
any advice is appreciated.
thanks.

Back in the day when we still scrubbed the grill with the brick, we used a 'grill screen' between the brick and grill; the brick alone was very abrasive AND noisey--it looked like a small piece of screen from a screen window(about the size of the brick), but when greased, worked like sandpaper to scrub the grill. Now, we use a grill friendly degreaser--pour on when the grill is hot, scrape clean and rinse--MUCH easier and faster. There are even degreaser "systems" available now: Pour on, then squeegie off--COOL. Saw it at a US Foodservice show this summer.
