Butter Rum Pecan Cake??

It's my secretary's birthday and she's asked for a Butter Rum Pecan Cake she's been dreaming for. As far as I can tell, she's envisioning a pecan cake with vanilla custard (don't know why) with pecans and caramel on top.

Before I reinvent the wheel, though, I'll ask if anyone has any suggestions or recipes.
