I stumbled onto the site and have been reading a lot of the threads, so I thought I would join. I live in Alabama now, but am moving to Portland next month for school. I'm going to western culinary. Can't wait to start asking questions.

Hi Jbyl and welcome to Chef Talk Cafe. As a culinary student you'll have lots of questions. This is the place to find answers and explore new possibilities. You can also find some answers by using the search button to locate earlier topics. Don't miss the great articles at the main Chef Talk site as well.

Enjoy!

check out the delis

im originally from oregon, as you can tell from the overly long intro.
check into the delis in portland. i remember ROSES up
in northwest off burnside at the foot of the west hills and also
DAVES (now long gone, but ohhhhhhh the memories!) down on
third on the blue mouse block (also long gone.) when the weather
goes to **** and you're feeling like being taken good care of, honey,
go in, sit down and have a cel-ray. i remember the food was heavenly, and
the proprietors as being really, really concerned that you had a good meal.

Hi - I was married to a man from Oregon. It is a beautiful state. I look forward to hearing about your adventures in culinary school. I think it sounds like an interesting experience. I consider myself a novice in so many areas of cooking.
