Potted herb garden? - Page 2

Hi, Craftsmaster. Welcome to Cheftalk.

You can keep those going without buying new ones all the time just by taking clippings, and starting them in potting soil. No more work than buying the plants already growing. The exception, of those you listed, is chives. But all you have to do is divide them at the root end.

I've even started new plants from those clam-shell packed herbs, which gives you an idea how tenacious of life they are.

When you initially buy the pot or container for your plants, be sure the container already has drain holes in it.  The better containers will.  If you decide to plant your herbs in unconventional containers -- say a teapot, for example -- then create several holes in the bottom to ensure proper drainage.
