British Finger Food

Any suggestions for appetizers that are native to England?

A couple of clarification questions: Do you want finger foods -- which might be for teatime or for "savouries" at the end of a dinner -- or do you want dishes that are actually served as appetizers? How "authentic" do you want to be in terms of the source placement within the meal? I ask because there are many wonderful finger foods that are not generally considered appetizers -- tea sandwiches, Angels/Devils on Horseback, rissoles, Scotch eggs, among others.

THanks for your reply.

I'd like to serve little bite size appetizers. My initial thoughts are mini Yorkshire puddings with a roast beef filling; mushrooms stuffed with Stilton blue cheese; barquettes filled with shepards pie, lamb curry, and burgandy beef stew. Finishing with mini bread puddings with a rum sauce and bite size toffee cake.

Any other Ideas?

Yes.

First, how about some trout or salmon in some form?

Second, where are you serving, and when? It all sounds delicious! :bounce:

I'm doing some prep work in an English pub in Chicago. In an effort to cultivate new business we're having a concierge party Weds. PM. So it's up to me to put the treats together. I'm also doing beer batter cod bites for a fish & chip sampler.
