Hi,

I see there is another New Orleans reader. If you read this good luck with your cooking.

As a general intro. I am a native New Orleanian. I love New Orleans culture and food and love eating out at nice restaurants. Of course in New Orleans that means most restaurants. Whether it is Indian, Mexican, Italian or New Orleans cuisine, I love it. I thought it would be fun to start a blog, http://NewOrleansRecipes.blogspot.com to give others a chance to get to know New Orleans cooking and what makes us different. I think the bottom line regarding what makes us different is our culture so my blog is not only about food but about New Orleans and New Orleanians.

A little more about me. I like gardening, eating out, fencing, making my wife happy. Those are my hobbies. If I do the last one well I get to enjoy the other three.

Since my blog is about recipes I'll post on the recipe page here on out.

Thanks all. Check out my blog. Happy eating.

Hi there and welcome.

it's good to see NOLA so well represented here. i grew up in metairie so i know your language. :) i checked out your blog site and liked the photos of Sal's. when i was a kid, our family would pile into dad's pick-up, Mom in the front and the 3 kids in the back, and go to Sals . my favorites were chocolate and bubblegum. Last July in was down there and stopped by Plum St. Snowballs on Carrolton, perfect on a hot July day.

anyway, looking forward to seeing more postings from NOLA.

Welcome, NOC and Pierre! We seem to be having a NOLA wave lately, and it's good to see.

New Orleans is on my list of "must see" places, mostly because it's a MUST TASTE place for me. I've seen too many films and tv shows where your spirited food is shown. An oyster po' boy is tops on the list for me.

Hey Pierre,

Sounds like you were in my old neighborhood. I went to Mater Dolorosa grammar school. Not far from Plum Street. Yep. Sal's is still around and the more we visit Sal's the more a-round we get. I think they just had their 60 year anniversary. Does that sound right?

Happy you liked my blog. http://NewOrleansRecipes.blogspot.com If you want to help. I am trying to get my blog out to as many people a I can. If you have the opportunity to mention my URL in any forums that would be great.

I just interview Chef Tom Weaver from the Court of Two Sisters. I hope to post that podcast later this week. It was a great interview. One thing he talked about was the difference between cajun and creole and the origin of both. Good stuff. Have you subscribed to my blog? This way you will know when I post the podcast.

Take care,
