So who wants to go? Last year, I got second place in the cooking contest with my shitake risotto (Chinese gold Kokuho rice, homemade mushroom and mirepoix stock, fresh shitakes, grated Stravecchio cheese). I really hope to cinch it this year.

How Fun!!! So what shrooms are growing "wild" in Madisonville, Tx in Oct?
One of my dearest farmer friends grows organic log grown shiitakes in a valley in Central Missouri....she lives in STL and travels about 3 hours to the farm.

I don't think there are very many wild mushrooms in Madisonville, which is about 100 miles northeast of College Station, in other words, in the middle of nowhere in East Texas. The reason why it's held there is that the Monterrey mushroom company is based in Madisonville.

Shroomgirl, you should come! It'll be loads of fun.
