I"m new to this site. It looks like it will be what I've looking for
I'm a trained chef here in Israel who opted out about 5 years ago. I wasn't hungry enough to continue to work when everybody else isn't and never see my family.
after that I started up a small chutney and other preserves factory which was great BUT didn't pay the bills at the end of the month so now I'm sales manager for a large spice company. My family and friends profit from my not working as a chef.

Welcome to Chef Talk, Paul- baruch habah.

It looks like you've gone from being in the kitchen to enhancing options for those who are in the kitchen. I'd be interested to know about your chutneys. Did you also make mostardas and similar products?

I'm sure your family is happy to see more of you! I have a brother who's a chef/restrateur, so I know how many hours that life can consume.

Make yourself at home and enjoy all this community has to offer. Don't miss the great articles, reviews and other features at the main ChefTalk.com site!

Welcome,
Mezzaluna

yeah, the cooking apple hasn't fallen far from the tree...still involved.
Our chutneys were pretty much based on classic Indian recipes with some mid-eastern twists here and there. great products but they didn't pay the bills.
Oh well.
we'll stay touch via this site
