My mom used Jiffy Mix and Bisquick for years. We never refrigerated it, but maybe the formula has changed. I'd check the ingredients. I could be that the fat will become rancid more quickly if it's not refrigerated.

Just a thought.

What is bismix?

Do you mean "Bisquick"?

It's a pre-mixed mix of flour, leavening and shortening in some form (it's a dry mix) that can be used for quick breads such as biscuits and flavored breads (banana bread, etc.). The two mentioned in my earlier post are brand names, but they're pretty much the same thing.
