Wine in dishes

This is going to sound stupid, I am going to make an italian spaghetti dish, part of the recipe is adding half a glass of white wine, will I be ok to feed this dish to my children who are 5+8?
I have never added alchol to food before, but alot of dishes have it, I don't wanna start getting my kids tipsy if you know what I mean. :smiles:

Not a stupid question at all. Yes your children will be fine as almost all the alcohol burns off during cooking.

Thanks for the answer.

Does the wine give the dish a sweeter flavour?

No not really, although all wines have a % of residual sugar in them, it is not an issue with a dry white wine.Remember sweetness and fruitiness are two separate things when it comes to our taste buds.
