Holiday Bread question

Thread Starter
During the time of a wassail feast there is a dark sweet bread that is used,
NOT plum pudding. But an actual bread. It is only available during the holidays. I think that its from England traditionally. I would like to know the name of the bread. Thanks,
BK

I make something called stollen every Christmas.
Its a yeast leavened fairly dense bread with dried
fruit, citron, nuts, anise, rum, etc.. After baking
it is totally immersed in boiling butter three times
and then packed in vanilla sugar and allowed to cool.
the shape is said to represent the womb of the mother
Mary or the baby Jesus in swaddling clothes. If you
cannot find the bread you were thinking about, perhaps
this one will do. It is close to many other holiday breads
from Italy to Mexico. It was originally a journey bread, and
lasts about a month, that explains why its dunked in butter
and packed in sugar.

I'm thinking maybe it's a date nut type bread.
Sometime today I'll gthrough my holiday breads and see what I can come up with.
