OK I have someone who wants a yellow cake with cream cheese icing. What I want to do is use strawberry jam as a filling between the 2 layers. My question is should I heat the jam strain it and then put it between the layers, or just spread it on like you would on a piece of toast. Or is there a another way? Any help greatly appreciated, thanks.

Spread it on with a spatula. No need to heat it.
