should i sift my dry ingredients when i make a carrot cake?

Yes. Carrot cake typically has a loose batter, and sifting will prevent lumps. When in doubt, sift. It never hurts.

Measure ingredients before sifting, unless the recipe states otherwise (ex., 2 cups of sifted flour means sift before measuring).
