What dd you think of Costcos own brand foods like olive Oil and Butter? You can buy Costco brand butter 4 Lbs for what 1 lbs cost in the market and i find it very good. I use both sweet & lite salted and also their tuscany Olive oil and buy their bags of walnuts, pecans, pine nuts and peanuts in shells for the squirrels

Costco's house brand, Kirkland, is an outstanding value and outstanding quality. They are very conscientious about maintaining value and quality. They have such high volumes that it is very easy for them to sign private labeling agreements with brand name producers. You may well be getting brand name products which are labeled and packages specifically for Costco under their Kirkland brand.

I've found them to be of good quality. I wouldn't go to the outstanding level, for processed foods. They're OK as those sorts ofthings go. But the basics, olive oil, butter, milk and such are all good products and values. I wish the cream wasn't super pasteurized, but it's been satisfactory for most of my cooking.

Sadly, Costco doesn't have the "Kirkland" brand of dairy here, it's all local. $3.65 (CND$) per lb of unsalted butter. I can get cheaper from N.Zealand, by almost $.90 /lb, but I have to buy a 50lb bulk case, too much for me to handle....

When I owned my catering company in Alaska we used Costco for a LOT of things. The only thing we didn't use it for was mostly produce and meats, but that's because we had a great veggie purveyor and we were partnered with a butcher. Other than that though we found Costco to be of exceptional quality. Sadly BJ's and Sams club while good for the most part I don't believe have the same quality. I wish Costco would come up here to WNY!

The cosco or sams butter here is not good for baking. Cream is another story. I get charged 3.12 for bordens heavy 42+ from the Bordens plant. I but the same exact product for 2.88 from sams I use enough cream to use sams.
