Does anyone know any good **affordable** standup mixers?? I really need one...the one you hold is just way too much hassel.

Well there are so many. I don't know what you can afford but I use a Kitchen Aid Heavy Duty 5 QT. Kenmore makes a pretty good one. There is one more but I cannot think of the name of it.

Stand mixers

SMX,
Try this site for stand mixers. There's quite an assortment. http://www.shopzilla.com/7S--Mixers_...stand%20mixers
I think the other one cakercookie was thinking of was Viking. Have a nice day!

Sunbeam also makes a stand mixer.

It might do for a interim mixer until you can afford to move up.

Walmart sells them in my area, but I'm sure there are many vendors about.

Nononono...

NOT Sunbeam. My son got one for me for X-mas. Took it back 2 weeks later.

POS. YUCK. Had no umpf or anything. The beaters "drove" the turning of the bowl or you had to do it by hand, which you pretty much had to anyway. Made a total mess because the bowl was shaped poorly.

I have more luck with my little handheld mixer. Dough hooks and all.

I've heard Kitchen Aid has cheaped out as well. Maybe you could look around at thrift stores for older Kitchen Aid models.

E-bay maybe?

I happened to see a 5qt KA pro with lifter, $208. I don't follow the market for the small units, but that looked pretty good to me. Sam,s Tex.
