Reservations or no reservations that is the question

Just wondering...The place I manage is going to be open from 12-8 pm on Mothers Day. I like reservations because it helps to know how many but when your booking people left and right does it really matter. I'm to the point where I just want to say come on in..We have booked large parties going to be hard to get them out to do walks in without a wait. We do have a nice outside screened in porch all done up nice ..my concern is the big groups...and then the walk ins...makes for a very long day either way..Looking forward to it but want to aim to please...I've told the wait staff..put on your tap dancing shoes.:smiles: I know that's what I will feel like about 8:15pm...lol

I always like reservations on just such an occasion. Provides the staff the ability to know what they are going to deal with, and if it is a bussiness that is not typically open on Sundays, it allows the b.o.h. staff to prep accordingly, and not under/over produce.

I'm moving this from the Welcome Forum to a more appropriate forum.

If you don't take reservations on a regular basis your staff may not be familiar with booking an seating and on a really busy day this can lead to some angrey confrontations and dissapointments, a lot of stress for your crew.
You'll be packed anyway, I'd say just hustle as you always do.

Sorry
Thanks for moving me I realized after I posted where I did it...I thought I really do understand how to do this...Yes we will keep the reservations...it is a new hostess up front and I'm trying to keep her from pantic on me. I guess I'll justhav to make sure I'm so ready it won't filter. And nothing a good stiff drink won't take care of when the night is over...Thanks
