Blender as a food processer?

I got a recipe from school for dirt cake, a dessert with oreo crumbs and pudding in layers. In school we used a food processer for making crumbs of the oreos. However at home, we dont have a food processer. We do have a spice grinder though, but the space is smaller then a fist. I was wondering if a blender could be used as a substitute? If not, what else could I use?

Yes you could use a blender I just recently made this same dessert for a company party. Not trying to tell you your business but if I were you I would just use my hands to crush them up thats what I did I think having varying size pieces of cookie gives it better texture but thats just me....

Best Regards Cakerookie....

The two machines are not the same. A processor has blades that are parralell to the base of the container, gravity will push the food down allowing it to be chopped. A blender is used only for liquids, the blades pull the liquid and chunks down , chop them up, and push them out again. A blender won't work with dry ingredients.

So how to smash up cookie crumbs? A zip-lock bag and a rolling pin....

And a wonderful method if you've had an off day. ;)
