HELP: Need to find applejack fast...

Hi all,

I can't seem to find any applejack locally and I need it by tomorrow. Google says it's a alcoholic beverage made from distilling apple cider, a website that says it's the same as hard cider. Does anyone know what I can use as a substitute?

Thanks in advance.

I got to the alcohol store and "hard cider" turned out to be Mike's hard apple cider as in Mike's hard lemonade. I got a feeling this isn't what the recipe calls for but I bought a bottle anyways.

Applejack

As far as I know, only one national brand of applejack exists in this country, and that's Laird's Applejack. It is made locally by a variety of artisanal winemakers, so you might investigate that in your area. As a substitution, you might try French apple brandy, which most liquor stores carry.

In a pinch I've simmered down some apple cider, making a syrup to intensify the flavor and just added brandy. It doesn't have to be an expensive brandy.

Woodchuck Amber is a hard cider available at your liquor store. They also have a Woodchuck GrannySmith blend. ;)

From what I've read online, applejack seems to be an american thing. I'm guessing it's not quite as popular in Canada. I'll try French apple brandy, maybe our alcohol stores have that.

Looks like my local alcohol stores do carry Calvados. I'm just not sure which one.
