I just registered and wanted to say hello. I'm not a professional, but like to think I have a few skills. My wife and I are doing a kitchen remodel that is going to provide me with equipment and a work space to improve the skills I do have. I'm looking forward to soaking up some of the great information on this site.

Thanks,

Kevin

Hey,
Welcome.
This is a very cool site. One of the best, if not the best. Everybody is pretty experienced, candid, but not offensive, or haighty. I think you found yourself a good site.
What's your project include?

Hello to a fellow Wisconsinite! We're glad you found us, Kevin. If you're doing a remodel, you'll want to check the equipment forum and also do some searches for earlier discussions of various equipment. We have a pretty good search tool here.

I'm also an avid home cook, so I know how much you're anticipating a great kitchen. When we built about 10 years ago I spent hours poring over plans, appliance specs, etc. For the most part, things worked out pretty well although you'll find many a post bemoaning my choice of range! That's on the schedule to be replaced next year, so I'll be on the hunt for a new model.

Visit often- we hope you enjoy participating in the conversations.

Regards,
Mezzaluna

Thanks for the welcome.

We're gutting our kitchen and opening the family room to the living room which also gives me more kitchen space. 48" 6 burner + charbroiler AG Wolf, 1200 CFM Wolf Hood, Thermador Wall oven and Microwave, Bosch DW, 8' Island with prep sink w/disposal allowing work areas for two on both sides of the sink (I'm a lefty so this works well), Whirlpool Sidekicks as they offer a lot of space and I was running out of budget. Blue Star ranges were very appealing, but I'm saving quite a bit on the refrigeration and DW because I'm buying the Wolf equipment. Only one place for a Blue Star in Milwaukee, and that's the only residential equipment they sell. Demo starts 7/10.

I cook often with a friend. I have another friend who is a CIA grad and restaurant owner in Milwaukee, and like to cook with him when he gets time off, which isn't often. I actually got him in the business 20 years ago when I ran a custard/pizza/sandwich place my family owned. He was my assistant manager. He's slightly more skilled than I am now, to say the least. LOL.

Sorry for the long post. I'm known for them a few other places. I read quite a few threads last night and really enjoy the site. Thanks again for the welcome.

Kevin
