Serving Portions

Hi everyone:

My Grandson is being Baptized this weekend and I have to make Potato Salad. I was wondering if there is a portion ratio that is a good rule of thumb anyone knows of. I have to make Potato Salad for 80 people. Thanx in advance for your help.

Well big congrats to your grandson and to the entire family. Being Baptized is a wonderful occasion. I been sprinkled and dunked several times. Each time I got hit by the water it started hissing and turned into steam. Aint sure whut was up on that deal. Normal ratio for tater salad is 1/2 cup per adult person. How much you gonna have to throw out depends on whut else you got to eat..whether they doing helpy selfy or being served etc. and whether or not the tater salad is worth a flip. I learnt the hard way that folks do not come to a bbq feed to munch on Sams tater salad in the gallon buckets. At the slightest whiff of smoke they become carniverous. Had 6 gallons for 350 once upon a time and wound up throwing out 3 of em or thereabouts. They was too full of smoked brisket and rope sausage to eat veggies is all I can figger out. Now it may not work like that in Boston or Istanbul or wherever you live at. I just aint sure. Hope this helps.
