What is CheeseCake?

Hi my name is Jim Van Cleave and i am new to this site. Just wanted to ask if Cheesecake is really classified as a cake or what? Can you please help with this question thanks and i hope i learn from all of you.

Cheesecake is actually classified as a baked custard, like a creme brulee or a flan.
