Hey everyone!

I just came across this site as my boyfriend forwarded me the link and thought I'd be interseted. What a great way to learn more about cooking and to sharpen up my culinary skills. I'm not a pro by any means but I absolutely love to cook and would welcome all the information I could get. Most of my history in the kitchen is self taught and from my Mom. She was raised on a farm and has many of those old school ethics that are forever guarenteed. Even in my most tired moments I find myself edging toward the kitchen to cook. Strange as it may sound, I just find it relaxing and most gratifying.

So, I'm looking forward to many good reads on this website. I have come to the conclusion that although the schooling and instruction from a professional are probably where it's at, there are still a select few who are quick learners and can still concoct a mean concoction "cliff notes style"!!!!

Hello Bethturn and welcome to Chef Talk. My background is similar to yours, and I was very happy to find that the professional members here respect the knowledge and instincts of those of us who are home-trained and/or self-taught.

We hope you visit often! Browse the forums, check out the articles, reviews, archives, etc. and enjoy it all.

What are your favorite dishes to cook? I'm cook mostly on the savory side, but have been getting more into pastry lately.

Regards,
Mezzaluna
