Hi, my name is Amanda. From my father side, my family was dedicated to the cake decorating business for 40 years. My mother used to sculpture beautiful sugar figures. She was an artist.  She is retired now. I used to manage a cake decorating business a long time ago, when I was 20 years old. I am 53 now.  I got a bread master degree from the European Bread Institute. I love to bake and teach people how to bake. I made special baking sessions at work and people enjoyed learning how to bake bread, cinammon rolls and a special christmas bread from my country Venezuela. Baking makes people happy. I´ll be glad if I can be of any help to anyone.

Hello!

I have been lurking and enjoying all the tales of your experiences in restaurants. That was my dream many moons ago after graduating from law school. I was too chicken to follow my heart and took the path of least resistance. Last year, after 37 years of "lawyering," I retired and my son, who is a filmmaker, has promised that if he makes it, he will buy me a food truck so I can cater his films, LOL! While waiting for this truck to materialize, I have managed to feed his crews during the filming of some of his "shorts," under some crazy scenarios worthy of a movie of my own. In the meantime I will continue to live vicariously through your posts!

Oops! I submitted and didn't tell you about my cooking interests. I was born in Cuba and left after Castro with my family. My grandmother and mother were fabulous cooks so I learned watching them in the kitchen. My expertise, naturally, is Cuban and Spanish food, but I like to improvise and give recipes my twist. I would love to learn how to make awesome Cuban bread. Have made some loaves, but never quite like the airy ones from good Cuban bakeries in Miami!

Welcome to Chef Talk.... everyone.

The ideal way to post your presence and introduce yourself is by starting a new thread in this, the New User Introduction forum.

Fairly simple and will come in handy when you want to ask a question without having to find a similar topic to latch onto.

Firstly find the main menu and scroll down to the New User Introduction Tab.

Choose that and it opens another window.

On the left upper part of the window you will find the Start A New Thread button.

Click on that ... name your thread... and then go to the empty body of the post and have at it.

When finished just click submit and voila you are properly introduced.

When you do have a question and have started a thread (in the proper forum) there is no need to repeat the question in multiple places.

Your new thread will show up in the "new posts" which is a page that has all of the ....well...new posts.... and can be read quite easily by whoever chooses to use that feature to "see" what is new.

This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
