so, in school we have a grande buffet and the theme is Wizard of OZ. Everyone else will be playing on the Emerald City so i was thinking of doing my hors d'oeuvres possibly flying monkey, but my idea was too "bakery" per the chef, so.... does anyone know of a meat that tastes well with bananas? My other idea was to make pizza crust cut into heart shapes and place crabmeat on top, that just seems to boring. Well, I just need some ideas please....

Bananas

You might want to consider either lamb, veal or pork as a meat that could work with bananas. Just off the top of my head, I'd suggest you work with bananas, light soy sauce and perhaps some red chili pepper flakes (maybe a bit of garlic) to prepare a sauce for braised veal shanks. You can add or subtract from this list as you choose. Just wanted to get you started toward whatever solution you wish to applt.

Instead of bananas you could do it with plantains for the same look.

Plantains with a jerk pork and yellow/red pepper topping sounds like a plan to me.

Monkeys will eat bananas when they can get them, and I know people associate it with monkeys but they also eat leaves, flowers, bird eggs, fruits and vegies. might give you some more choices.
BTW Bakery? were you making a bread or pastry?

I always think the poppy field scene is one of most visual. Besides which the witch is faded in a bit working her magic...

Thanks everyone, the creative juices are flowing now. :)

As for the "bakery" comment from my chef, i was going to make graham bread, paysanne cut bananas, and toast cashews (2 standing up, they looked like monkey wings :lips: ) so, i guess that is pastry thinking, but that is my heart!

Cape-
I saw your comercial last night twice, haven't seen it in a couple months. Are you rich and famous now?? (customer's asking for you autograph???) LOL (my niece used to be the "Little Debbie snack cake girl" about 10 years ago- she said suddenly friends asked for her autograph)
