Muffs....first you need Central Groceries
Olive Salad (from New Orleans)
Then Italian Muffalato bread a creamy white round 6" across loaf with sesame seeds
Never heat a muff it is always room temp with a Barqs root beer (preferably sitting on the Mississippi river watching the world go by) ham, mortadella, provalone or swiss, genoa salami
Central Grocery's phone # 504 523 1620
I've had others but this olive salad is the definative and it is near impossible to recreate.(Olives, celery, cauliflower, carrots, sweet peppers, onions, capers, parsley, pepperoncini, vegetable oil, olive oil, vinegar, salt, garlic and spices) I had a 32 oz jar in the back of my fridge from Mardi Gras.
Monte Cristo....ham, swiss on white with an egg batter fried...served with strawberry jam

A friend of mine made it for a lunch menu once. She told me she got the recipe from a certain place in LA (can't remember the name) and got them to give her the recipe over the phone somehow. She went and ordered the special bread, made it, weighed it down, then served it to me and other lucky lunchers. It was the BOMB! I think I ate 2. Did I tell you I was a porker?

Amazing, these are sold by the half because they are so filling....they also are aromatic....definately an acquired scent

Monte Cristo-

Ham, Turkey, and Swiss Cheese triple decker. Batter and deep fry (you will need to secure with toothpick)

Cut into quarters and serve with Melba sauce.
