I see some messages that say "spam attempt." What's that all about?

There's a new rule about posting links. No links until you have 15 messages under your belt.

Kuan is correct in an effort to stop the numerous spam postings we have set up some features to help. Lately it seems like all the mods do is spend their time cleaning up after the spammers.

The text can be changed if you have any suggestions.

How about, "Participant is not yet authorized to post links." :smiles:

Does this include someone attempting to post a link to the same forum, perhaps to another thread?

Hi,

I agree that the message should be changed and something along the lines of Mezzaluna's suggestion seems about right. Also, Bruce from Pepper Passion tried to post a link to something germane to a discussion about pepper and received a "Spam attempt" message. While Bruce hasn't posted many messages here, he's been a member for a few years. Might there be a way to modify consider both the number of messages posted as well as the amount of time someone's been a member of the forum?

Bruce should post more then! :D

Sorry, this is a case where the tyranny of a few seems to be winning.
