Wobbley Tables - need a real solution...?!

So we retro-fitted our place and inheireted a cement floor which we stained to look pretty cool. The problem is it is a bit uneven, not visable, but we have found out by our tables and by pouring water on the floor.

We started with tables that have those black iron bases. Single bases with the sort of cross on the bottom.

Of course they wobble, which is not only cheesy but causes spilt coffee/wine. We cannot re-pour the floor. We are willing (happy) to buy new tables. We have tried the "levelers" and they barely work but then the tables get moved and we are back to where we started. All the napkins stuffed under the table looks gross and is embarassing. We considered bolting the tables, but really need the option to move them.

Can anyone help. Have you found a solution that works? We are thinking that 4-legged tables might be the solution. Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks.

That's a tough one since you already stained the floor. Aside from shims, there is this self leveling concrete (use "topping" not "underlayment") you can use on the low spots in an already poured floor. You'd have to retexture and restain, but it might be worth the aggrivation.

Go to your local restaurant supply store, they have "table shox", little rubber shock absorbers that screw onto the base of your tables. With these installed on your tables you can move them around the place and they will always be rock-steady.

Try a little piece of Wine cork cut to fit under the table leg.

Tableshox

These are the ticket. Tableshox saved us from an ugly situation. Our tables are our foundation and one of the critical "early" dining experiences.
I cant post links yet but you can find them in 5 seconds anyway. good luck!

I'll go along with Foodpump and Gladyce on this one. Table shox are the way to go.

16 years ive been an owner with wobbley tables like everyone else, tried all self ajusting superleveler, tableshox and a waste of my money . after couple of months they stopped working due to the mop water and dirt, they froze up. so what did i do? i made the tablejack and has work great for me and now we are taking it to the market.  we have 12 test market restaurants now, two of them are NOLAS and K-PAULS. check tablejacks out at www.tablejacks.com. call or e-mail me for more info

Strange, I've had mine for 5 years now and they work fine.  Boy, your guys must be using a lot of water to mop a floor..................
