Does anyone know who won the "battle" last night?

Is there a way to get the recipes seen on the show? Whar about a way to find a list of contestants and winners?

Thanks,

Shel

I didn't catch that episode, sorry.

They don't seem to publish the recipes on the web site. Perhaps an email to them?

If you're talking about the American Kobe Beef battle, the challanger won, hands down.

I figured that would happen. When it comes to beef of any kind, Bobby Flay seems to be in a rut. I guarantee his steak & eggs breakfast will be one of the dishes everytime---which it was. Another of his dishes was a take-off on Philly Steak & Cheese---not the most creative use of that great beef.

All in all, the judges were less impressed with him than usual.

Great! I was hoping he'd win. I saw the entire show except for the results. Fell asleep.

A agree about Mr. Flay.

Thanks so much.

On a somewhat related note I've really started to notice how off the judging critera seems on most nights.

To me it just seems silly that on most battles taste is almost always maxed out on both competitors and it then comes down to plating and originality to win it. It's like you can show up, spent all your time making creatively plated dishes and pull it out as long as it's tasty "enough."

Even if it's abstracted out for TV, I think it should be almost entirely about taste with a very small amount of points given for plating/originality and break up taste a little finer or by-dish.

I just think it's silly to see iron chefs who technically made better dishes than the competitor (but they both had high marks for taste) lose on plating. That of course wasn't the case last night, Flay didn't have it over his opponent and deserved to lose. Good battle though.

Something to keep in mind, too, is that there is an incredible home-court advantage. The iron chef is used to the kitchen, and the judges are predisposed in his/her favor.

So, when a competitor does win, it really is an upset of the first order.
