Food Storage Temps and Equipment

I have a problem. My fridge keeps food cold and my freezer keeps food very cold. Unfortunately, I have no way to keep food at "room temperature". In most places, room temp is probably in the low 70s at most (I'm guessing here). My room temperature is about 80 to 83 degrees, no matter what.

Any suggestions as to equipment I can use to keep food "cool" (storage of chocolate) or at "room temperature"? I want to try and keep humiditiy low as most of what I'll be storing at room temp will need that.

help help, thanks thanks

Dig a basement. Think "wine cave."

I've stored things in my basement, garage, and a utility room off the garage. Only you know how the temps vary in the rooms of your house. Right now, at this house, the garage doesn't work as well as the basement.

While a basement or garage would be a fine idea in any other area, my problem is that I live in the desert where 115 F is common. In other words, I have to get creative. My indoor home temp is about 80 degrees because the cost of the AC and the shock of going from 115 to 65 would be too much for my body.

Anybody got an idea? I thought about a compact fridge or something, but I don't want humidity added and I don't know how warm I can set a fridge.

Look into a wine storage cooler.

I thought about that. Don't wine storage coolers raise the humidity to keep the corks nice? If so, the extra humidity would not be good for my chocolate.

PS I tried to get some info about a wine storage cooler from a guy at Lowe's, but my efforts failed. I know nothing about them.
