Earlier today I got just a tiny taste of some smoked sea salt. Wow! It sure was good, and there must be lots of uses for it. Has anyone here had it? Where'd you get it? What did it cost? What type/brand of salt did you get?
Funny you should mention smoked sea salt Shel I just tried it for the first time this past Friday and was pleasantly suprised. A couple friends and I were grilling some pork chops from the pig I purchased from a farmer a few months ago (just went to slaughter a couple weeks ago). The sea salt had a really excellent flavor with the grilled pork I was very pleased with the result.
I smoked some kosher salt in my smoker a month or so ago. Just spread out some salt in a thin layer in a metal container and let it smoke while I cooked some ribs. Stir it around a bit now and then. A fine all metal sieve would be good for this too as it would allow smoke in from the bottom.
