Good to be here,

Just want to say hi, my name is Dan. I'm in my mid fortys, but I have 30 years in the business. I had 15 years in before I started at J&W. Because I did have some experience and knowledge going into school, it was a very positive experience for me. Not only did I have a blast, I also started making good money before I finished my first year.

I'm on a bit of a sabatical right now. College football and 30 years on my feet on quarry tile have taken their toll on my knees. I'm having surgery on Fri. I guess I'll be on crutches for 8 weeks, and have about 18 months of rehab ahead of me. Its okay with me, as my eldest daughter starts her College volleyball career with Minnesota on the 8th, her first game is at Notre Dame on the 24th. Really looking forward to it.

Anyway, Hi

It's nice to meet you, Dan. I'm sure we'll benefit from having such an experienced member joining our community.

Good luck with your knee surgery and rehab. I guess that may mean you'll have some time to hang out here!

Enjoy browsing the site and visit often!

Welcome to the forum!

As for your scheduled surgery, please, please, consider this. If you have permanent, irreversible, scarring surgery, and even if it goes perfectly, you will STILL never again walk the same!

Have you ever considered naturopathic medicine? What's to lose? It seems that there are a many choices where you live.

Acupuncture and a change of diet spared me from knee surgery recently.

Thankyou for the welcome, and yes I should have lots of time to yak on the fora.

Oahu, I appreciate your advice, but I've had multiple knee injuries from sports, many of which I've never had repaired. Stuff like torn meniscus, shredded cartilage, and ligament damage. Add all the years of 12-16 hour days on my feet, and I have a pretty good case of arthritis. I've got 6 bone spurs in my left knee alone. I've been in a pretty good amount of pain for a long time. I'm still fairly young, and active, in that I coach several of my kids teams, and still like to play fastpitch and hockey.

My surgeon is going to clean things up, and perform microfracture to see if I can grow some cartilage back. I basically asked her to buy me ten more years before I get total replacements.

P.S. I'll try not to post too much while whacked out on painkillers.

Don't worry, you wouldn't be the first to have major surgery and then hang out here during your recovery! :bounce:
