Does a Decorating Turntable need to be heavy

I want to buy Martha Stewart's new Cake Dec table @ Macys and throw out my Wilton.
Martha's is $60 it has a sharp pivot point and is kind of heavy not sure how heavy
Does it need to be a certain weight?
What should I look for??

Heavy is good because it is more stable (less likely to fall over). But unless you are decorating cakes by the dozen the added cost probably isn't worth it.

I'm sure its better than this plastic one I have from Wilton. I was using it today and it kept stoping and shaking so I got some crumbs on the side :(
