Cookie help

Had some friends over the other night for dinner. As usual, the topics soon turned to my being American. One of the things I find here is once someone becomes comfortable enough with my being the foreigner there are tons of questions. The big fav is food. Everything I made that evening was from recipes brought with me from home. The Swiss are very traditional in almost everything so I take it as a compliment for them to actually want recipes from me. Cookies seem to be the big thing. Enter any bakery here and you'll find many different types of breads, sandwiches, cakes and pasteries...but no cookies. I've found that I don't need to make "fancy" desserts, just bake cookies!
Now for what I'm looking for. Remember those no bake (at least from what I remember) cookies made with crispy noodles? I think they were called crispy doodles or something like that. Anyone have a recipe for them? If you do, my Swiss friends and I thank you!

Hi,

I think I know what cookies you are talking about. If I remember correctly they are made just like Rice Crispy Treats. I don't know about you but I am a huge PB fan and I'd add about a half cup to my murshmellow and butter in the pot. MMM! Now that's good stuff:lips:

Haystacks?

Hello, perhaps you mean a little gem called "Haystacks"???

1-12 oz pkg. butterscotch pieces (or 10 oz. if that's what it comes in)
1-2 cups chow mein noodles

Melt the chips over a double boiler. Cool to room temperature and stir in the chow mein noodles. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto waxed paper. Place in refrigerator to set, about 2 hours. YUM!

Hope this is what you're thinking of!

Chinese Noodle Cookies Recipe

Thanks! The people in this group are the best!! Chinese Noodles with butterscotch is exactly what I am looking for. It's a holiday here today and everything is closed so tomorrow I'll be going to the store to get the ingredients needed to make them.
Rice Crispies treats have been a huge success here. My friends just go nuts over them and cannot believe how simple they are to make. For me, it's amazing that they have never heard of them. I mix the European version of M&M's in to them. They disappear faster than bottle of wine at dinner!
