baby food ideas

Hi
I have slow cooker which I am planning to use. Would this work to make baby food (veggies) for my 10 months? IHe seems to like table food but too bad he does not have any teeth. He tried to eat a fish stick once! Poor guy. I thought about buying a small cuisinart but thought I could use a crock pot to make food for my family and it will be soft enough for him as well. Any ideas or recipes would be great :p

You can cook the veggies any way you want and just strain them through a strainer. Use a spatula and strainer, hold it securely over a bowl and push the food through. No recipes needed, just cook and strain. :)

If the baby is starting solids, you should consult the doctor to know what to introduce and when. Some foods, like cow's milk, eggs, strawberries, etc can cause allergies, and should be introduced later, and in any case, one food at a time. Don't start solids before 6 months.
I had to make most of my babies' foods because there was little available here in italy in the way of baby food except fruit and meat. The standard thing for babies to start on was vegetable broth - couple of leaves of swiss chard, a carrot, an onion, a potato, cooked till soft, then some sort of starch like semolina was cooked into it. The vegetables were pressed through a fine sieve and added.
