Hello My name is Carl Yorke.

I recently joined Cheftalk, I have been cooking for about 3 months still very much learning!!

My wife is 50 on the 21st November, and I want to cook her a very simple meal, can you give me any ideas on what to cook and any simple recipies?

depends on what HER favorite foods are.....

suggestions would include recipes/dishes you can make before hand so you're with her and not cooking throughout dinner......

stuffed mushrooms are always a hit....can be stuffed with seafood or blue cheese and bacon or even reduced cream and wild mushrooms.
prebake mushroom caps, fill and bake for about 10-15 minutes.

even better if she likes shrimp/crab, a cold remoulade or cocktail means no ovens for the first course.

Salad.....great fall salad with toasted nuts, fresh, poached or dried fruit, greens, possibly some cheese and a vinagrette
premake, dress before serving

Or butternut soup, just reheat....recipe is in the recipe forum

Fish, whatever is fresh and whichever she likes..... I posted almondine on your other post.
Starch....rice is typical accompaniment.
veg....whatever looks good

Dessert....99% of 50 year old women really really like chocolate. Flourless chocolate cake is easy to make and can be made well in advance. Or find a good bakery.

But it should be what she thinks is special.
