Greetings from Chesapeake Bay

I recently stumbled on Chef Talk and have enjoyed reading through the posts.

I'm a foodie who enjoys reading and trying out new things. I live aboard a 40' sailboat, currently in Annapolis MD, so my cooking space is a little constrained. You can do quite a bit with two burners and a small oven if you try hard!

Welcome, Auspicious! I'll bet you can turn out some tasty and interesting meals from your little galley. I believe we have a chef here who cooks on a fishing boat in Alaska. I'll bet you have some stories to exchange. What's the most elaborate meal you've prepared in your galley?

Please have a look around the site and drop in on the conversations when you can.

Regards,
Mezzaluna

The environment on a commercial fishing boat is tougher than I usually deal with (although there was this gale in the English Channel ...), but s/he probably has a bit more room than I do.

Elaborate isn't as hard as volume in my little galley, as long as I don't have too many things to finish at once.

I fed crepes to five while at sea. That was pretty exciting. I also served grilled beef tenderloin with a New Orleans garlic sauce, broccoli, baked potatoes, and Caeser salad (dressing from scratch) to four. Getting the tenderloin from the grill to the galley without dumping it in the cockpit was tricky -- everything else was just being organized.

I'll post pictures of my galley when I can.

My hat's off to you! It takes organization, timing and probably a good sense of humor to pull that off. Bravo!
