Overbearing flavour of cloves!

Thread Starter
Hi Hope someone can help! I have cooked a huge chicken dhansak for guests coming tomorrow and it seems to be good in texture and colour etc but I put in some ground cloves (not sure why!) along with many other spices and the cloves are dominating a bit! Is there something I can do to counteract the flavour of cloves?

I'll just have to pretend it's supposed to be like that then! Thanks anyway...

I remember reading something by James Beard saying that clove was the most powerful and pungent of all your household spices... to take it easy with cloves.

That's why I only use whole cloves, that way, once you have the right flavour you can take them out. Not nice when you miss one and bite down on it though!:o
