Hi! My name is Melanie. I apprenticed under a pastry chef from ages 15-17, scratch baking, sort of european style. I was the "pastry chef" (ok, I don't have a piece of paper that entitles me to call myself that) at a vegan bakery- my favorite job- complete freedom to create. Right now I'm the baker at a Crowne Plaza Hotel- love this job! Having no formal schooling, I still ahve skills that need learning/improving. I'm excited to find a place to come with my questions, to look for discussion with. I come from an artistic family, and I love incorporating my other artistic abilities into my baking/cake decorating, etc.
