Anyone grow their own sprouts? Where do you buy seeds and what are you growing?

Sprouts

Try this website:

Sprouting Kits & Sprouting Seed

It's Burpee's Seeds. I have bought their Sprouting Kit, along with some seeds. So far have tried the Mung Beans. Their kit works very well, and they have a variety of sprouting seeds that cn be bought. :)

Try this site-
http://www.sproutpeople.com/

I've ordered seeds and supplies from them frequently and have been really happy with everything. Their site includes a lot of very helpful information about how to grow different sprouts and the best methods for each.

Just don't eat potato sprouts; I'm told that they are poisonous.

Thank you also.

I'm planning to start with broccoli, radish, and alfafa. Does that seem sensible? The idea is to grow sprouts for salads and sandwiches.

I don't know about the others but I have eaten alfalpha sprouts on sandwiches and salads and liked them. I've never grown them but I would think that any that are marketed expressly for use as food in the sprout form should be OK.

Sprouts

Sprouts are reputed to be an exceptionally nutritious addition to any diet. However, one needs to be cautious and buy sprouting seeds that are expressly designated for food.

I purchased a starter kit because I have a pet parrot....I read in a pet magazine that sprouts are especially good, and a treat, for pet birds, so now I am eating them also. A good addition to the diet...for man or beast! :)

I really like clover sprouts. They are high in nutrition that make alfalfa sprouts so good for you, but they are a little hardier and don't rot so quickly.

I like to grow them in a screen tray so they grow straight and the husks are easy to wash off. They also get very tasty green leaves when grown in a tray too.

Don't particularly like broccoli sprouts-they rot too quickly and have kind of a bitter aftertaste, but radishes have a nice peppery flavor that are great on sandwiches and in salads.
