Casual Chef looking for Cooking Class Opinions in NYC

I've been cooking casually for several years. I'm looking to improve my cooking knowledge/skills since what I know has been obtained through watching tv/others.

The classes at ICE looked intriguing, but were a little expensive. Does anyone have any other recommendations? For those who took the ICE recreational classes, what did you think of them?

Thanks,

Is this the right place for this question?

we've had posters that were pastry instructors at ICE...MBrown?
several years ago some of us from Cheftalk took a field trip to ICE...it was going from Peter Kump to ICE that week....beautiful facility with wiz-bang equipment but that tells you nada about continuing ed classes.
