Whole Foods Northwest Salmon Chowder

Yesterday I stopped at the local Whole Foods, and checked out the soup and salad bar where customers can sample several soups and seafood salads. One soup that looked interesting was called "Northwest Salmon Chowder." The name really caught my attention as I love salmon, and salmon chowder is one of my favorite soups. I read the ingredient list that was posted by the soup hoping to find that it contained Pacific coast salmon. To my amazed disappointment, the soup contained absolutely no salmon whatsoever. How can these jerks call a soup salmon chowder and not include even a minimum amount of salmon.

Every time I visit Whole Foods I lose a little more respect for them. So, read those labels boys and girls.

So what was listed for the fish/seafood item in the soup?

Several, including pollack.

I think pollock gets a bad rap from it's frequent use in Surimi. It is a worthwhile whitefish in it's own right. And probably another of the soon-to-be endangered fisheries from the millions of tons that is harvested every year.
