Mozzarella sticks

My parents are having a Super Bowl party tomorrow and they want me to bring some type of dish, just in case the ones that they make are not edible. I found a good recipe for Mozzarella sticks.

The recipe calls for blocks of mozzarella, that is to be cut into strips fro breading and frying. I was wondering, for convenience, if I could use mozzarella cheese sticks (string cheese).

Do you guys think I could use them or are there too many additions in the string cheese that would cause it not to fry well?

It's all just cheese. I've used the sticks, and it worked fine. You might want to cut each into two equal lengths, though -- one whole stick is a lot.

I second Suzanne's idea. String cheese is also good wrapped in egg roll wrappers and deep fried- or in shorter lengths, wrapped in won ton skins. Serve with marinara or any dip you like. A mustard sauce is very good with this.

Could even put some canned "ortega" chiles in some of 'em--squish the cheese with your hands, around the chile pieces, then bread them etc.

Cheeze Stix

You may want to bread them and freeze them.
You can do them ahead and the cheeze wont ooze out prematurely.
Dont make them too big.
