you could try calling a local organic certification body and ask for any potential sources.
I don't know about sun seeds and pumpkin seeds locally for you, however, I have ordered WONDERFUL California almonds on-line direct from farmers co-ops (sorry I can't think of the link, but you could google). It is almost impossible to get raw almonds anymore (they are mostly now heat pasteurized aka roasted, the farmers coops sell them truly raw, perhaps include unpasteurized in your google), and the quality was incredible and free shipping over a certain amount of pounds, good price too. And money direct to farmers which is always a good thing IMO.
yeah, I noticed the Trader Joe's "organic" sun and pumpkin seeds were from China too.
Did you see yesterday's report of people dying from tainted pharmaceutical products, 80% of our prescription drugs have foreign ingredients in them or are made in foreign labs. ABC had on a man who lost both his son and wife to tainted pharmaceuticals with the source being a Chinese manufacturer. FDA asleep at the switch was the message.
I buy all my nuts from US and Canadian origin. I used to buy organic Sicilian almonds in bulk, but stopped when I found the Cali farmers co-ops. Some aren't organic, but I prefer North American conventional over China organic.
