Hello, I'm trying to find out the name of a pastry that my parents used to get for me as a child, I believe the bakery at the time featured german pastries, they are no longer in business so I can not ask them.

The pastry was sold in squares about 6 x 6 inches and they were about 1/2" thick, crumbs on the top, very airy and flaky like a lot of layers just stacked on top of each other, they seemed like they would just break apart when you touched them, the ones I had didn't have any fruit in them but I'm not sure if others did or not.

Can anyone please help me find out what these are called?
