Obviously, since I am posting in this forum (and can read and understand instructions:D), I am new to the neighborhood. I am currently finishing my 6th month of culinary studies. I am also by no means young enough for all the studying to come easy to me! Who knew it would be so hard to retain information at nearly 50 y.o.!! I had my own wallpaper installation business for YEARS. The housing slump completely killed it, and nearly killed me financially, so I am looking for a new career. Silly me thought I might as well do something that I love. This is a dream I have had for probably 30 years and never did anything about because I had a successful business that kept me jumping for a lot of years. The university I am attending teaches one subject a month. This month has been World's Popular Cuisines. The foreign language terms that we are expected to remember for the quizzes are the hardest part. I can do the cooking, I can even dream up dishes with the correct ingredients and techniques true to the region. I just can't tell you what it is called in their language. How do you get past that and remember it? Anyway--my plans when I finish are to either open my own restaurant or a bed and breakfast. I will need some type of successful business to leave for my Granddaughter. I am leaning towards the bed and breakfast. I guess because I believe I should be married to my business.
I am looking forward to reading (Like I haven't been lurking here a while already! Ha!) and learning from those that have different, and more experience than I. I have NEVER worked in a restaurant and have many questions!
Ok, I'll stop now so you all can get back to what you were doing!
