syraz and...what?

Hello Everyone,

I am looking for recipes that go very very well with syraz. Do you have ideas? Have you tried anything yet? (Is it uncommon to choose the recipe for the wine, and the wine for the recipe?)

Thank you in advance,

Seeing as most Shiraz (I'm guessing that's what you were referring to) has a pretty nice pepper finish to it, you can pair it with BBQ and grilled red meats very easily. I would avoid pairing it with spicy food though as the finish of the Shiraz would only make the spice in the food more apparent. I always suggest pairing sweeter whites (Off dry Riesling, Dry Muscat, Gewurtzimiener) with spicy foods as the sugars in that wine balance out the spice in the food beautifully.

Although Syrah and Shiraz come from the same grape (Syrah grape) they are not often the same. Which are you referring to?

You can quadruple your pairing iq by armng yourself with tthe book "What to Drink With What you Eat," by Andrew Dornenburg and Karen Page. It's unbelievably complete in its offerings!
