Hmm...Something that goes with clove.....

Boy, do I need help..
Just finished some major oral surgery (think "Marathon Man") and now my mouth feels a bit better, but the temporary fillings and packings seem to be flavored with clove oil.
I know that clove oil is used as an anesthetic for mouth issues, but this is ridiculous! Every breath in and out fills my head with the scent/taste of cloves!
Now I don't mind the flavor too much-love gingerbread cookies and pumpkin pie, but it messes with the flavor of everything I eat!

I tried a little Easter lamb with tzaziki for dinner last night-Yeacch! Then a little salad--bleacch!

What can I eat that might actually taste good with an overtone of cloves?
Any ideas?

Some of the Indian dishes use cloves as an accent. I've seen it in some of their fragrant rice dishes that accompany various curries and other dishes.

Ham? Chicken breast with orange-citris marinade?

Hopefully by now the clove taste from your dentist has dissipated and that your mouth feels better. I feel your pain.

Heh, ham? Apple pie. Pumpkin pie.

Remove the C in clove and you get love. :D

Hope you feel better.

is it safe? :suprise:

LOL...

I was thinking roasted beets. Plain unspiced applesauce if eating is also an issue.

I also make a beef dish, sort of Indonesian, simmered in a sauce from coconut milk, cumin, coriander seed (and leaf at the end), nutmeg, chili pepper, generous fresh ginger, lemon juice, a little soy sauce. When it's simmering I have a few whole cloves in there, and some cinnamon sticks. I was thinking that made with or without the cloves. It would give you enough of a spice mix to detract from the cloves, but that would not clash with the cloves.

I can't imagine walking around with the taste of clove in my mouth for an extended period of time. That might even be worse than enduring the surgery.

Hope you got the gas... :chef::smoking:
